The best Google Ads tools (2026)
Copy for AI
Which Google Ads tools do you really need? The honest answer: fewer than the vendors tell you. The native Google Ads interface plus a free dashboard in Looker Studio already covers most of the work for the majority of B2B advertisers. Paid software only gets interesting once your budget grows, you manage multiple accounts, or you want to win back hours on optimization and reporting. Below you will find the best Google Ads software of 2026, grouped by task, with an honest look at strengths and a cautious note on price.
How do you recognize a good Google Ads tool?
- It saves you more time or money than it costs. A tool of a few hundred euros per month has to more than earn that back in better-performing budgets or hours gained.
- It matches your account size. What an agency with forty accounts needs is overkill for an SME with a single campaign.
- It steers on results, not vanity metrics. We want to see leads and revenue, not a pretty chart about impressions. See also vanity metrics versus real results.
- It works with your data and market. For Belgium, local-language reporting and Belgian feed specifications weigh more heavily than an impressive American feature list.
- It does not replace strategy. A tool automates the work, but the choices about audience, bid and message remain human work.
The best Google Ads tools per task
Keyword research and planning
1. Google Keyword Planner. The free foundation, built into Google Ads. Strong for search volumes, bid estimates and discovering new search terms straight from the source. Weakness: the volumes come in broad ranges and the suggestions are quite commercial. For the real starting work it is nonetheless hard to beat, and it costs you nothing.
2. Ahrefs and Semrush (PPC modules). Both SEO suites have strong paid-search modules that let you map keywords, CPC estimates and competitors’ ads. Handy if you look at SEO and SEA together. The price (typically in the order of a hundred euros per month or more) is, however, steep if you use them purely for Google Ads. You can read more depth in our best keyword research tools.
Management and optimization
3. Optmyzr. One of the best-known optimization platforms. Strong in bulk optimizations, bid management, alerts and reporting across many accounts at once. It is mainly agencies and larger advertisers that get the most value here. The subscriptions sit in the higher price range, so for a single SME campaign it is usually too much of a good thing.
4. Adalysis. Specialized in ad testing and quality control. It automatically runs A/B tests on your ads and flags account problems you easily miss in the interface. A nice addition if you want to A/B test in a structured way. Here too: the value scales with your volume, on small accounts the added value is more limited.
Reporting and dashboards
5. Looker Studio. Google’s free dashboard tool (the former Data Studio). It connects natively to Google Ads and GA4 and lets you build live, shareable reports that clients and colleagues can open themselves. For most B2B advertisers this is the only reporting tool you need. The learning curve is manageable and the price is zero.
6. Supermetrics. Becomes interesting as soon as you want to combine data from multiple sources (Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, GA4) into a dashboard or spreadsheet. It takes the connecting work off your hands that you would otherwise do manually. It is a paid layer on top of your reporting, so only count on the added value if you really combine multiple channels.
Scripts and automation
7. Google Ads scripts. Free, built in and powerful, but underused. With a bit of JavaScript you automate recurring work: budget monitoring, bid rules, depletion alerts or reports that email themselves. There are countless ready-made scripts online that you adapt without much programming knowledge. If you want to automate smartly within Google itself, this is the first thing we recommend before you consider a paid tool. Combine it with a thoughtful bidding strategy and smart bidding.
Competitor analysis
8. Semrush. Besides the keyword module, Semrush is strong in competitive insight: which keywords competitors play, which ad copy they run and how their budget moves. Useful to sharpen your own positioning. The price is an investment that mainly pays off if you deploy the suite broadly.
9. SpyFu. Cheaper and specifically aimed at competition in paid and organic search results. Strong for quickly viewing a competitor’s ad history. The data is richest for the American market, so for Belgium you take the figures with a grain of salt and use them as direction, not as exact truth.
Feeds and shopping
10. Channable. A feed management tool with strong roots in the Benelux, so relevant for Belgian and Dutch webshops. It optimizes your product feed for Google Shopping and other channels: rules, filters and enrichment without manual work per product. If Shopping is a serious part of your revenue, a feed tool pays for itself quickly. Dig deeper into optimizing your product feed for Google Shopping.
What do you really need now?
Start small. The native Google Ads interface, the free Google Keyword Planner and a Looker Studio dashboard together cover keyword research, management and reporting for most B2B campaigns. Add Google Ads scripts as soon as you want to automate recurring work. That costs you nothing and takes you surprisingly far.
Only when you grow do you scale up. If you manage multiple accounts or large budgets, Optmyzr or Adalysis earn their subscription back in time gained and better-performing budgets. If you combine many channels, Supermetrics removes the data chaos. If Shopping drives your revenue, Channable is the first paid tool we recommend. So choose per task, not based on the package with the longest feature list.
And remember: a tool does not replace strategy. The right campaign types and a healthy account structure deliver more than any software. If you want to hand this off, at Google Ads we put tools and strategy to work together to drive predictable leads.
And your visibility in AI?
More and more marketers are asking not Google but ChatGPT or Perplexity which Google Ads tools they should use. Those AI answers cite the sources that are clear, honest and well structured about the topic. Whoever publishes clear content about their field today gets named tomorrow when a buyer asks an AI. That is exactly what our GEO approach steers toward, so your brand shows up in those answers, and not your competitor. Read how to get found in ChatGPT, or see how AI is changing Google Ads strategy.
