Why does this happen more and more often?
Google answers more and more questions directly on the page. A featured snippet gives the answer in a block, a knowledge panel shows facts about a brand or person, and the AI Overview summarises several sources into one answer. For simple questions the user no longer has a reason to click. The share of searches without a click is therefore clearly increasing, a trend that only accelerates with AI answers.
Why visibility keeps counting
No click does not mean no value. Appearing in the answer, the snippet or the AI overview puts your brand on screen at the moment someone asks a question. That appearance builds recognition and trust, even without a visit. How credible you come across as a source is strongly linked to E-E-A-T and to your domain authority. In B2B, where a decision rarely falls on the first search, every time a potential customer comes across your name counts. Whoever often appears as a source becomes the name that is later clicked or typed in directly. How do you deal with it?
Your strategy shifts from merely chasing clicks to being visible in the right places.
