What is GEO?
GEO, or Generative Engine Optimization, is optimising your online presence so that generative AI models (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews) understand and recommend your brand correctly. Where SEO is about ranking in a list of links, GEO is about being named in the answer itself.
How it differs from SEO
AI systems do not read individual pages, they build a picture from thousands of sources at once. GEO is therefore not about keywords, but about meaning, consistency and authority across the whole web: structured data, clear brand positioning and mentions in places AI trusts.
Why it matters now
More and more people start their search in an AI chat instead of Google. Anyone who is not named there does not exist in that context. GEO makes sure your brand is remembered, not just found.
