People Also Ask (PAA)
The expandable block of related questions in Google, which shows what follow-up questions your audience asks around a topic.

People Also Ask (PAA) is the expandable block of related questions that Google shows in the results, with a short answer and a source for each question.
How does the block work?
If you open a question, a short answer appears and the list grows with new, related questions. You thus see in real time how Google breaks a topic down into sub-questions. For you, that is a free look into the real search intent of your audience: not the keywords you come up with, but the questions people actually ask. Each answer also links to a source, so the block also works as a list of pages that Google trusts for those questions.
Why it is a content opportunity
Every question in the PAA block is a mini-briefing for your content. By explicitly answering those questions, you expand your topic coverage and build authority around a theme. A few ways to use it:
- Collect the PAA questions around your core topic and give each its own heading with a clear answer below.
- Cover the whole topic rather than isolated keywords, so Google sees you as a complete source.
- Reuse the same structure to stand a chance at a featured snippet.
The link with AI answers
The same question-and-answer structure that the PAA block rewards also helps with the AI Overview. AI systems like to draw on content that gives a clear, well-defined answer per question. Whoever builds their pages this way is useful for both classic snippets and generative answers.
For B2B you do not choose every question, but the questions buyers ask on the way to a decision. Topic coverage is not a goal in itself, it only counts if it brings the right people to your content and ultimately to an inquiry.
