Your First 10 B2B Leads in 30 Days: The Action Plan
Copy for AI
Landing your first 10 B2B leads in 30 days is the ultimate b2b lead generation test: you win it by doing one thing sharply instead of ten things half. The short version: in week 1, define a razor-sharp ideal customer profile, an offer and a list of 100 prospects. In week 2, choose one channel, write one message and set up a simple landing page. In week 3, go live with your outreach. Use week 4 to follow up, measure and adjust. With 100 well-chosen prospects and an honest message, 10 qualified conversations are a realistic result.
One thing matters upfront: 10 quality leads are worth more than 100 bad ones. A lead that fits what you sell, has budget and feels a concrete problem is gold. A hundred email addresses of people who will never buy only cost you time and damage your reputation. So this plan optimizes for quality, not noise.
What you need before you start
You don’t need a big team or an expensive platform. Count on this basis:
- About 5 to 8 hours per week, spread across the days.
- A business email on your own domain (no gmail address for outreach).
- A list source: LinkedIn Sales Navigator, a data source or simply manual research.
- A place to convert: a simple landing page or a calendar link (Calendly, Cal.com).
- A spreadsheet or free CRM to track leads.
That’s all you need to start. Complexity is the enemy of the first 30 days.
Week 1: ICP, offer and a list of 100
What you do. First you define who your ideal customer is. Not “B2B companies in the Benelux”, but sharp: sector, company size, the decision-maker’s job title and the problem you solve. Translate that into an ideal customer profile on a single A4 page. Then phrase your offer in one sentence: for whom, which result, in what time. Finally, build a list of 100 concrete people who match that profile.
Example. ICP: head of operations at logistics SMEs with 20 to 100 employees in Flanders who struggle with manual planning. Offer: “We halve your planning errors within 60 days with a simple workflow, without a new software package.” List: 100 operations leads via Sales Navigator, with company name, name and one relevant detail per row.
Common mistake. Keeping your ICP too broad. If everyone can be your customer, your message speaks to no one. Better 100 perfectly fitting names than 1,000 vague ones. Not sure what a lead is worth to you? Work it out with our value-per-lead calculator, so you know how much effort a lead may cost.
Week 2: channel, message and landing page
What you do. Choose one channel that fits where your ICP is. For most B2B starters that’s cold email or LinkedIn, rarely both at once. Weigh the two against each other in our piece on email versus LinkedIn outbound. Then write one short message: one problem, one relevant observation, one simple question. Finally, set up a landing page or calendar link where an interested person can directly book a conversation.
Example. A four-sentence cold email: “Hi [name], I saw you recently did [x]. At logistics SMEs of your size, we often see that planning still runs manually, which costs half a day per week on average. We solve that without a new package. Would a 15-minute conversation next week be useful?” Short, concrete, no sales pitch. Read more about the structure in our article on cold email in Belgium.
Common mistake. A message that’s about you instead of the reader. No one is waiting for “we are the market leader in”. Start with their problem and keep it under 100 words.
Week 3: outreach and campaign live
What you do. Now you send. Send your message to your 100 prospects, spread across the week (about 20 per day), not all at once. This protects your domain and keeps follow-up manageable. Log every reply in your CRM. Personalize at least one line per contact: refer to something real about their company.
Example. Monday to Friday you send 20 emails each time from 8:30, with one sentence per prospect that speaks specifically to their situation. If someone responds positively, you immediately send your calendar link. If someone responds with a question, you answer within the hour.
Common mistake. Sending everything at once and then hoping. Without spreading and without follow-up, your message disappears into the noise. Also count on benchmarks: for cold email, a reply rate of 5 to 10 percent on a well-targeted list is normal; on LinkedIn, acceptance is often around 25 to 35 percent. Out of 100 prospects you typically get 5 to 12 real conversations.
Week 4: follow-up and optimization
What you do. Most replies don’t come on the first message. Send a short, friendly follow-up after three to four working days, and possibly one more after a week. A good follow-up sequence often doubles your response. Qualify each conversation immediately with a light framework like the BANT method: budget, authority, need, timing. And look at your numbers: which subject line, which opening sentence, which segment works best? Double down on what works, cut what doesn’t.
Example. You notice that operations people at companies with 50-plus employees reply three times more often than the smaller ones. You rewrite your subject line for that group and focus your remaining follow-up on it. Of your 8 conversations, 5 turn out to be genuinely qualified: those are your first five serious leads, with more follow-up in the pipeline toward ten.
Common mistake. Stopping after one message and labeling it “doesn’t work”. The win is in the second and third touch. And: not measuring. Without numbers you don’t know what to scale up in month two.
Worked example: from 100 to 10
Say you’re a consultant selling process optimization. Here’s what your month looks like:
- Week 1: ICP = operations managers at Flemish logistics SMEs (20-100 FTE). List of 100 names via Sales Navigator. Offer in one sentence.
- Week 2: Channel = cold email. One four-sentence message. Cal.com link as the conversion point.
- Week 3: 100 emails, 20 per day, each with one personalized line. Result: 9 replies, of which 6 positive.
- Week 4: A follow-up email to the 91 non-responders yields another 4 conversations. Total: 10 conversations, of which 8 fit your ICP and have budget.
Ten qualified leads from 100 prospects. No trick, just discipline. And you now have a proven message that you can scale to 300 prospects in month two.
Common mistakes (the summary)
- ICP too broad. Speaking to everyone is speaking to no one.
- Two or three channels at once. You dilute your attention and learn nothing. Pick one.
- Message about yourself. Start with the reader’s problem.
- No follow-up. Most leads only come after the second touch.
- Scaling too fast. First prove your message works on 100 names before you go to 1,000.
- Quantity over quality. Ten fitting conversations are worth more than a hundred rejections.
Checklist: your 30-day plan

- Landing page or calendar link ready
- Outreach spread across the week, personalized
- Follow-up sequence of 2 messages scheduled
