Metrics CTR

Click-Through Rate (CTR)

The percentage of people who click after seeing your ad, search result or email.

By Tanguy De Keyzer · Founder & digital strategist

What is CTR?

Click-through rate is the percentage of impressions that results in a click. If your ad gets 1,000 impressions and 30 clicks, your CTR is 3%.

CTR = (number of clicks ÷ number of impressions) × 100

Why it matters

CTR measures how relevant and appealing your message is to those who see it. In Google Ads a high CTR feeds your Quality Score (and thus lowers your click price); in SEO a high CTR on your search result is a sign that your title and description land well.

Mind the context

A high CTR is not a goal in itself. If your clicks do not attract relevant visitors, you pay for traffic that does not convert. Always read CTR together with your conversion rate.
