How long can an SEO title and meta description be?
Google does not count in characters but in pixels. A title is usually truncated around 580 to 600 pixels (about 50 to 60 characters), a meta description around 920 pixels (about 150 to 160 characters). This tool measures the real pixel width of your text, so you do not have to guess.
A truncated title or description does not cost you a ranking, but it does cost you clicks: your most important message drops off. Keep your key words up front and make sure your value proposition fits within the visible space.
